- Bookings and payments
- Bookings are essential and can be made either by phone or in person. Payment must be received the week prior to the course commencing. Classes will run subject to reaching a minimum number of enrolments. If a course does not run all enrolled students will be notified and transfer or refund of course fees arranged.
- Concessions and payment plans
- You are eligible for a concession if you hold one of the following cards: Health Care, Pension, Disability Pension and Aged Pension. Please present your card on enrolment. Payment plans are also available in cases of hardship and for full year certificate courses. Please speak with our Centre Manager to discuss payment options.
- Cancellations
- PICAL reserve the right to cancel or reschedule courses prior to commencement date. If it is necessary to cancel a course, students will be offered a refund or the opportunity to transfer to another course.
Cancellation by students in non-accredited courses will be refunded only if the cancellation is made prior to the enrol by date. Students in accredited courses need to be aware of cancellation policy in regard to the course in which they have enrolled. - Complaints and Suggestions
- We care about your opinion and whether we are meeting your needs. You have the right to have your complaints heard and dealt with in a systematic way. In the first instance please discuss the matter with your tutor or the Centre Manager. If you have suggestions for improvements please put them in writing and either place in the suggestion box located in the kitchen or hand to the receptionist.
- Membership
- All users of the Community Centre are encouraged to become members of PICAL. Membership is a flat rate of $12 for individuals or families. We also have a Corporate membership (some conditions apply). By becoming a member you are not only supporting PICAL and paying a reduced fee for courses and administration services but can also decide on the activities and direction of the centre.
- Room Hire
- After office space on Phillip Island, or looking for somewhere for your group to meet? PICAL has office space, group computer facilities and two meeting rooms available for casual or ongoing hire at very reasonable rates.
- McKenzie Cottage: Office space including a desk, casual seating and telephone. Suitable for up to 6 people.
- The Conference room: Carpeted and air conditionied with table seating for 15, lecture seating for 30.
- The Computer room; 10 PCs running Microsoft XP with ADSL internet access, web-cameras, headsets with microphones, scanners and data projector.
- The Sunroom: Vinyl flooring, air conditioned, includes table seating for 25, lecture seating for 50.
- Expert advice for groups
- PICAL is one of over 100 Adult and Community Education (ACE) organisations with trained employees able to provide governance and management advice to community organisations through the ACE Community Building Hub initiative.
